Utopian Travel from Beaverton Oregon is receiving complaints about high pressured sales and false statements about potential savings from the memberships.
The state Attorney General's Office said it has launched an investigation.
Customers of Utopian Travel say they received savvy, pressured sales pitches for memberships starting at $11,000. As natural gas prices increase people are turning to Wood Burning Stoves
Natural gas was pegging about $11 per mcf wholesale Wednesday morning, reflecting the increase since Hurricane Katrina tore up gas fields in the Gulf of Mexico.
Wood-burning stove demand is "completely" attributable to natural gas prices, Craig said.
Bob Repnak, who owns R&T Services, agreed.
"They see that natural gas price going up, and it is a knee-jerk reaction," Repnak said. "The price of gas is part of it, too."
