2010 Summer Musical Footloose

Walla Walla Community College Foundation presents its 29th outdoor summer musical. Based on the hit 80s movie, which launched the careers of Kevin Bacon, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jon Lithgow, Footloose explodes onto the stage and there is just no stopping the music. To the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated Top 40 score, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, and the joy of expression through dance. Dates: July 8-10, 15-18, 22-24, come see the Summer Musical at the Fort Walla Walla Amphitheater.

Artists in Action -- YWCA Art Auction

The 15th Annual YWCA Art Auction, [i]Artists in Action[/i], will be held Saturday, September 17th at the Walla Walla Community College Conference Center. Fine art created by regional artists, wine from local wineries and products and services from area merchants will be auctioned. All proceeds benefit YWCA programs. The silent auction begins at 6 p.m., and wine, soft drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served. The live auction begins at 8 p.m. Reservations may be made by calling the YWCA, 525-2570. Walla Walla Author Called to DC

The Federal government invited local author Joe Cooke to Washington DC to serve on a team that recommends which of several counties across the country will be able to receive special Federal grants for children's services. These $6.5 million Children's Mental Health Initiative (CMHI) grants are awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The money is used by local governments to re-evaluate and re-design systems of care for high-risk children and their families. Local Artists Join Forces

Wine industry, move over - Walla Walla is a fast becoming a Mecca for creative spirits. In order to help expand and support the local creative movement, artists of all kinds have joined together to present "An Evening With Local Artists" at the Carnegie Arts Center, 109 S.
