Preperations have begun for 31st Annual celebration of the Walla Walla Balloon Stampede, May 13-15. Already the official logos have been unveiled and a new crop of Balloon Stampede apparel and memorabilia are available to be purchased. There is a
Walla Walla Balloon Launch and Wine Excursion being marketed to those living on the other side of the Cascades and local businesses are preparing to welcome visitors from far and wide.
The Balloon Stampede begins early with up to 40 hot air balloons being launched at 6:00 am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings weather permitting. Spectators are awarded the chance to stand within just a few yards of the "daring young men and their hot air balloons" as they prepare for take off. The launchs will originate at Garrison Middle School right next to the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds.
After catching the Balloon launch and a good breakfast be sure to take part in the variety of activities designed to keep your day active and full of fun. For the young (and young at heart) "Kid's Zone" entertainment area will run both Friday and Saturday as will the "Juried Arts and Crafts Show". And don't forget to take a stroll through the vendor booths on hand. Who know's what treasures may be there?
