July 13, 2005 - Walla Walla, WA: As part of an ongoing community education and enrichment series, the Unity Church of Peace offers a group study and discussion of the landmark book "A Course in Miracles." This is a course for anyone who is looking to make a positive change in their life.
"A Course in Miracles" teaches the way to universal love and peace. Even though the language of the Course is that of traditional Christianity, it expresses a non-sectarian, non-denominational spirituality.
Dr. Helen Schucman, a clinical and research psychologist and tenured Associate Professor of Medical Psychology at Columbia University, scribed "A Course in Miracles" and first published it in 1975. There are currently over one and a half million copies of the Course in circulation worldwide. Translations in Chinese, Danish, Dutch, German, Hebrew, Italian, Portuguese, Russian , and Spanish are also available, with eleven other translations now in progress.
In the introduction to the course, Dr. Schucman writes: "The course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love, for that is beyond what can be taught. It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love's presence, which is your natural inheritance. The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite."
This course is open to anyone interested in living a more spiritual and fulfilling life. There is no fee, but participants must purchase their own Course in Miracles student manual. This manual is available at Earthlight and Book & Game.
The Course in Miracles Study group will meet on the second and fourth Sundays of each month, from 12:00pm-1:00pm beginning July 24 at the Unity Church of Peace, 810 C Street in Walla Walla, near the Walla Walla Regional Airport. See the website for directions to the church.
