It's hard not to think ``resurrection.'
From a closed rehabilitation facility - care equipment left standing in deserted rooms like stainless-steel skeletons - to a home for a mix of health, education and faith-based services, is rebirth in the best sense.
At least, that's the feeling of Paul Rasmussen and several other community members.
Rasmussen, owner of Northwest Collision of Walla Walla, has evolved into the lead man on a project to rehabilitate the SunBridge nursing home building on Dalles Military Road - closed for almost a year - into a bustling facility housing everything from educational classes to a vegetarian Meals on Wheels program.
The idea surfaced even before the nursing home closed, Rasmussen said. He and several others in the community were searching out local real estate for something specific. ``We were looking for a facility to be a central hub to reach out to the community to fill gaps - service gaps. What we wanted to do is fill needs for anyone.'
