Walla Walla Considers Raising Property Tax
The City of Walla Walla says it needs to fill a half-million dollar hole in its general fund, and desperately needs to fix several city streets. So, the city is proposing a a significant hike in property taxes. The city says it's either higher taxes, or severe cuts.
Walla Walla's city manager, Duane Cole, says the tax would cost the owner of a $100,000 home an extra $44 a year.

Walla Walla currently spends $120,000 a year for roads and the study indicates that 1.6 million should be spent to maintain current status of our 143 miles of roads. If the tax is passed, City manager, Cole says it would pave an extra 1 mile of roads a year. Is that enough?
