M F Wind Project Contributes More Than Power

MILTON-FREEWATER - The 41 wind turbines that line the hilltops around Umapine have been producing more than power.

``The project has had numerous positive economic impacts on the county and adjacent communities,' Eurus Energy America Corp. states in its first annual report on the Combine Hills Wind Project.

As required by its conditional-use permit, the company recently released the report to the Umatilla County Planning Commission. The 41-megawatt project started commercial operations Dec. 21, 2003.
